How is the course delivered?
Live via Zoom and aviable on desktops, tablets and smartphones, the course is presented live by Dr. Simon Keeling.
Broken down into two manageable sessions, this online course is the same as our classroom based course of the same name.

Who is it for?
Suitable for beginners novices and those who wish to know more about the wind, weather and why it happens.

Above and beyond the RYA syllabus
The aim of this course is to give a background into meteorology and make it accessible for all. We deal with all aspects of the RYA Level 1 meteorology syllabus, but also explain much more about what causes weather, forecasting and its effects.

What topics are covered?
We deal with topics such as The Atmosphere, Global circulation, Frontal systems, Pressure systems, Air masses, Cloud development & forecasting, using weather charts, followed by a Q & A session.

Will you teach me sailing techniques?
This is a weather course presented by a professional meteorologist; it is not intended to teach sailing techniques. However, you will learn many hints and tips with you can directly use and incorporate into your decisions when sailing.

What is included?
Lectures, handouts, full access to Simon and a completion certificate at the end of the course.

What time does the course start & end?
The course is run over two consecutive Saturday morning sessions from 9.30am to 12.30pm with breaks included.

What if I cannot attend on Saturday mornings, can I still take the course?
Absolutely! A recording of each of the sessions is made available for a limited time. If you can’t watch the sessions live, you can watch the replay and then submit questions via email to be answered rapidly. Special quick ‘catch-up’ meetings are held via Zoom or Facebook to answer any further questions and go over topics which need to be covered again. Just let us know when booking that you will not be taking part in the live sessions and you’d like the take the course ‘as live’. We can then make the necessary arrangements.

Where is the course held?
It’s online and you can access it from anywhere the world with a stable internet connection.

How much does the course cost?
The cost is £249 which includes all handouts and course certificate as well as ongoing questions for Simon.
This must be paid in advance. Numbers are restricted so that everyone gets the maximum from the course, and you can book your place now.
